look at them closely , i ve had one set of each in my hand , EXATLY the same casting ....... think they are the same thing , except ring are sometimes differents .

you can go for them , no pb , just one thing , there is an expander , forget it , it s crap .....

I used some in my LC I think.
I too was told by the guy that they were the same as the OEM pistons.

If they have '31K' inside them .... they are the same castings again as the good old Shitakas. Its dead easy to tell a Shitaka, PROX, or any other Marketing outlet for these piston, against an original ART piston... look at the inlet windows from the inside. The Mitaka type are sort of individually framed with a bulbous ridge, the stock ART (note ART) are just a plane rough cast porus looking surface across both holes, well all the ones I've seen are..... Shocked

Let me put it this way SEB....every aftermarket Japanese made piston you buy for a valve is made by one Japanese company...probably based in Taiwan.....These pistons are then sold to companies like PROX, Mitaka, TKR, blah blah blah, who put them in there own box and sell them. Sometimes it goes even further and PROX will sell them to another company who put them in their box and sell them.

However none of them are OEM pistons....you can only buy those from Yamaha and they are made by ART....they have Art written in them above the gudgin pin hole somewhere I believe and do not have '31k' written or cast in anywhere. They only come in white YAMAHA boxes...and cost twice as much as the others.....wether they are twice as good is another matter.. Laughing

JL - Not entirely true. Many years ago, I bought genuine ART piston kits in ART boxes for significantly less than the cost of Yamaha pistons.
Unfortunately, the shop I bought them from has disappeared, & I suspect the guy retired.
