Spoke to Robin Melmoth tonight the A/C club Events organiser.

The latest advance news for thems that have to book time off from work.

The Aircooled RD Rally 2008 will be at Uttoxeter Racecourse on the 4/5/6 July.
The event will be much the same as it has in the past.

The space has been booked for the Rally next to the VJMC show so you get to visit both.

Back by popular demand is the girl band Almaboobies on the Saturday night.
There will probably be another band on the Friday as well.

There will be marquee, showers, toilets and catering.

Tickets will be have to be pre booked and they will be valied to get into the VJMC show as well.

Robin has to do some more sorting yet - so more news to follow.

Details of ticket prices to follow - but they will be hopefully cheaper than wot Ashbourne campsite management wanted to charge. The wanted to take over the ticketing for 2008. They were going to charge £20 for tents up to £40 for caravans and camper vans which is one reason for moving. Up till now we have always negotiated discount.

Full details should be sorted by xmas.

Makes it worth joining the club.... Wink

If the Rally had stayed at Ashbourne it would have cost the same and more depending on wot you came in - We were gonna loose the control over the camping.

The campsite management wanted to control the camping on a pre book basis and they had a whole load of new pay scales. It was gonna cost a lot more to bring a van or a caravan.

Its worth noting that the rally covers its own costs - we do not use members membership money to discount the ones that come to the rally.
Its not fair for non attending members to subsidise those that do attend.

The VJMC give discounts but they use membership money to do so -hardly fair to the ones that can't make it

thats great, if you own an rd and want to join the club.. I usually bring a couple of mates along who arent club members, they are going to be a bit put off at that price. I'm not knocking anyones efforts here so please dont get me wrong, but a £20 price difference seems like a bit of a rip to me. It may well put off some others coming too, like rgv/kr1s owners..? I dunno... Smile

I'm with you 2Smoke Rolling Eyes

£40 is a lot if your not in a rd club ( like me ) aircooled or lc ....
It could well put other strokers off from visiting ....

Is it still £40 if you pop along on a bike with a one person tent or if you turn up with a car towing your bike on a trailor then pitch a 10 berth tent ?

Fred.

Have you just rolled in from the local 'nifght clib' then, Gareth? Laughing

For my part, £40.00 quid is about half a track day. If it came down to a simple choice, would I rather spend an afternnon on the track riding the thing or a weekend in a field looking at 'em? Hmmm...
