Given that 250 bits usually don't go into the silly money bracket - I wonder what the winner will say when he opens this up and finds it wont work on his 350?

It's going to be wrong for one of the bikes!! It's either too small a bore for a 350 twin disc if its a 250 master cylinder, or it's too big a bore for a single disc 250 if the cylinder is off a 350.. One bike will have too much movement at the brake lever and the other extreme will have too little movement at the brake lever..

proddy racers in the early 80s used to put the 250 master cylinders on .there is apparently more lever movent ,the half inch bore giving you greater pressure

I wouldn't recomend fitting a 250 master on a 350. I ran my RG500 with a 250 master cylinder, every time I braked the lever almost came back to the bar, so everytime I was really nervous that I wouldn't have any brakes! The 250 will give more pressure but the excessive lever movement was very uncomfortable for me (destroyed all confidance in the brakes).

Guy in ebay either couldn't be arsed to look or is feeding a line of BS to make more cash. If the part number is correct it will be for the 250. The reason is that when the 350 was first released (prototype) it only had one disc up front, of course they did fit a second one for production 350;s but by that time the 1/2" bore M/C had already been given the 4L0 part number so the one from the XJ650 was used in its place.

I could see it going that high IF it were a 350 one as it does have the raised type window (which some insist is the ONLY correct one) but as its a 250 one I don't see why its gone that high unless a couple or 250 anoraks are in a bidding war - stranger things. However on a 350 you can still get a new one with the flush window (4G0 - XJ550) and still have it correct as some were fitted with the flush style. Apart from the window they are the same other than the cap needs switching.
4G0 MC below fitted with a 4K0 cap.

4K0 MC on the left but this one is a -02 (flush window) rather than the -01, 4G0 on the right

First piccy is the 4G- MC fitted with an NOS (of course, don't ask what it cost) cap making it virtually identical to the other one. There were two 4K0 MC's, the -01 suffix had the raised window whilst the -02 ones had the flush style. Both styles were used on LC's the grungy one you see there came off an 81 or 82 Canadian LC.
