Hi guys,

Here's my old Kenny Roberts LC coming back to life. I've owned this baby for 22 year, 18 of which it's been in bits due to an accident I had on it in 89. Dislocated my hip and spend about 4 months in hospital Sad . Thank heavens for student nurses Very Happy .

It was first registered in '85 and I understand the paintjob was done by Dream Machine and I think it was hand sprayed and not a decal (but I can't really tell, if anyone knows please let me know).

Due to commitments this has taken me a year to get this far but all being well, it should be back on the road by May. Watch this space.

Cheers

Jez

I had the crankcases aqua blasted. Came back looking like new. As for the tank, if it can't be repaired (although I think they can do anything nowdays) I've got another in my loft ready for painting.

I'd restore it all but the tank, leave it as is.

I actually agree the bike would look ace restored with the "scars". Would really make a talking point. Just my opinion.

As you are having a replacement tank maybe you could pick and choose?

Thanks Garry, I'll make sure the tabs are locked over Wink .

The actual mileage was 4500 but I smashed the clocks up and bent the folks. I also twisted the frame. I had this straighten in '93 (for a grand total of £80, still got the receipt) and it took the workshop 12 hours to correct it on their jig.

I've got a photo of it somewhere, all beaten up so I try to find it and put it up.

The engine has been completely rebuilt including the crank and con rods (after 18 years in a box the bearing were shot). Didn't realise how simple it was, just a few tools and a Haynes manual.

Every nut and bolt will be either replaced or re-plated. I'll put more pics up over the coming weeks to show you my progress.

Cheers guys

Jez

Fair play bud - many people would have called it a day after a spill like yours and fewer still would get back on the same bike...

What is it about RD's... eh! Sounds like you're going to all sorts of lengths to get it back the way you want it and it's looking sweet Cool

Hope the rest of your resto goes to plan - best of luck to ya thumright
