Spoke to a friend of mine tonight, and he is thinking of selling his Tzr 250 3xv. He got it a few years back but has never ridden it. I think it's a Jap import on a H reg and has race pipes fitted with carbon cans. He had it dyno'ed at 59 bhp !, so may have been breathed on. He has no idea of price, and I thought there may be some of you guys that know current prices. Could get some pics if it helps, but I did see it a few months back and it looked pretty good. Needs a fork seal, and he has the standard pipes, if that makes a difference. Kept under a sheet in the garage and started now and then, and sounds good.

Cheers

Dusty

Been to see my mate today, and got some pictures and info on his bike.
Basically, he has owned the bike since 02, and he got it from his brother in law. Alan is the third owner, log book in his name and bike is on Sorn. Last used in 05. Mileage is 10500 km Shocked He only put about 1500km on it himself, and has kept receipts and old Mot's.
He had it on the rolling road at Rhino Dyno a few years back and it made 59 bhp. It has Jackal full race pipes, K&N filters, and a White Power shock fitted, as well as a steering damper and a Scitsu temp guage wired direct to the sump for a more accurate reading of temp. It has had a full engine rebuild in the past and when he rode it, embarrased a lot of bigger bikes !! Rear seat conversion with Malboro paint and wheels powdercoated to match.
The screen came from a track bike and is scratched, bur not broken. There are minor scuffs on the bodywork, but nothing bad. There is no oil pump, it runs on fully synthetic premix for reliability. Take a look at the pics;

This bike is for sale, but I don't know the value of these bikes, so any help would be great. He is in no rush to sell, so forget any silly offers Wink
Forgot to add, it will need a fork seal on one side, and maybe a new battery, it has a gel cell conversion under the seat.

Cheers

Dusty

Looks very tidy and looked after. Has it ran at all over the last 3 years? If the motor is all good, I'd say about £1800 - £2000, but that's just a guess. The shock and pipes should be worth a fair bit on their own and could bump the value up a bit. Shame about all the stickers, esp Max Biaggis number but they may come off cleanly I suppose Wink If the motors fine, I'd buy it. Didn't realise the 3XV was made so early Confused

Hi stn10,
your mates bike is a 1991 TZR250R 3XV1 standard version.
The first year of production. It was 45bhp as standard.

The Jackal pipes, (made in Japan) are quite rare and worth a bit by themselves if they are in good condition.

They all have gell batteries under the seat from new. Although alot have been converted to normal lead acid batteries under the rear seat.
Gell batteries are quite common now and can be bought for about £20.

Tell your mate to remove all of those stickers. Buyers are suspicious of what damage they are hiding, if any?

Value of 3XV's is dependant on what someone would like to pay on the day.
Modified bikes are hard to value.
If it was a very clean standard 1991 bike it would be worth aprox £1750-£2500.
Good luck with the sale. Wink

Were any of the 3XVs officially imported to the UK Question I seem to remember mates going to extreme lengths to get hold of one. Whereas the VJ22 was in the local bike shop window. Confused

3XV V-twin TZR's were only made for the Japanese home market between 1991-95 and never sold anywhere else, I think.....

The ones you see in this country were grey imports brought into the UK in the nineties by BAT M/c's, Powerslide M/c's, Fastline M/c's etc.

They would of cost about £4500 new so Yamaha UK decided not to import them. They carried on selling old stock of the original TZR into the early nineties.

Yamaha UK are very good about supplying parts and can supply just about any part........ if you tell them the part number.
A lot of parts are stocked in the UK and Europe, with Japanese back orders taking about a month to arrive.
