Hi All,
I have just mounted my pipes done by Camcoat. RD350R but with the "good" 1UA pipes. Besides cleaning inside and out and coating, I also had Camcoat widen the internal expansion tube from 20 to 22 mm as recommended in Martin Kieltsch tuning book. Since in the meantime I have also cleaned and adjusted carbs, reeds etc. I put in new plugs before going for a 50km ride to see if the colour of the plugs confirmed good overall setup.
I must say the bike did run very clean and smooth all the way to the powerband and wheelies in first and second gear (all stock engine except carbon reeds and lightened flywheel).
Now, when I came home and removed the plugs, engine still warm, not terribly hot, I noticed quite a bit of steam/smoke coming from the plug holes in the cylinder heads, this lasted a few minutes and I don't think I ever noticed it before. Is it normal or a sign of something wrong or maybe just the new pipes' finish still baking?
By the way, the left plug was already showing a nice hazelnut colour while the right one seems black, dry black. Carbs are adjusted exactly the same in all respects.
Thank you for your opinion and I highly recommend Camcoat's work and service. Also the finish is a superb match to the original.

A little bit of smoke curling off fresh coating on pipes is normal I think. I've never pulled the plugs right after a run, but it appears that you have a head gasket leak. You should have coolant in the overflow tank near the steering head. While warmed up and running, look at overflow ... is it bubbling and making a bunch of racket?

Thanks, I'll check the coolant. The haed gasket has been replaced recently by Yamaha, I'd be surprised if there was a leak there but good to point it out.
Cheers,
