I run 75W gear box oil (specially developed for 2 stroke engines, from Bel-Ray, called Gear Saver). I really can't see it making any difference if you run a 10-30 or 10-40 (the last number is the viscosity of the oil when hot) a 40 might be slightly better for the gearbox, but the difference between a 30 & 40 is going to be very small. I would still suggest using a genuine gearbox oil rather then an general purpose oil designed for a 4 stroke engine.
The dedicated gearbox oil has very good shear resistance (which you need as gearboxes really break down oil chains) but a 4 stroke engine has to deal with plain bearings, roller bearings and gear boxes and therefore cannot have as much shear strength as that would cause issues at the plain bearings. Most 2 strokes don't have plain bearings so go for a real 2 stroke gearbox oil and maximise the gearbox life..

I would recomend running NGK BR9ES spark plugs, I am not familiar with the plugs that you listed, but I am sure someone will chime in. The number is usually the heat rating, so a 6 rating would be a very hot plug and would damage the piston, but I suspect your plugs number system must be different to what I am use to, as it would be very hard to find a 6 rated plug!! Are you sure they are NGK plugs?

per Yamaha's RZ350L-N-NC manual ...

Recommended oil:
Yamalube 4-cycle oil or
SAE 10w30 type SE motor oil or
"GL" gear oil

Too high a shear strength is not a factor in plain bearings for off the shelf oils ... viscosity is but only because too thick would be hard to pump leading to bearing starvation, and will soak up power. The ultimate is price/performance would be ATF as automatic transmissions have clutch packs and gear loadings that would make a cycle transmission cry like a girl. As it stands, I use 10w40 auto motor oil (non-energy conserving).

Plugs without a resistor can cause problems for the PV's - I think they cause some sort of electrical feedback that upsets the PV servo... Embarassed

But don't think they make any difference for LC's Confused

I especially like to 'test' the bike when the football is on..pisses 'em all off..good...football is shite and Im sick of listening to their radios full blast in the garden too (with football on). I usually find the flymo followed by a few albums of the Sex Pistols at full bore sorts it out.
