hi guys,
just bought myself a 1990 ypvs, used to have a couple of lc's in the 80's but they're fetching some silly money now, so settled for a ypvs.
i've been looking on't tinternet and i see a lot of people scrap the ypvs fairing in favour of an lc's headlight. i like the look of this and wondered if it's a simple job.
can i use the ypvs clocks and fairing bracket or do i have to source lc parts?
i'm sure there'll be a few more posts from me as this seems to be a great source of info!
p.s i did look on previous threads for an answer so if it's there and i missed it i apologise now.
many thanks

You want the clocks from the naked "N" type YPVS.

They are really quite expensive.

However various TZR and FZR bikes use the same clocks, and they are quite cheap. The actual speedo & revcounter you can swap over from your F2 clocks, as they are the same.

Another question, is how are you going to mount them to the bike? The n type clock brackets fetch stupid money.

with a touch of luck someone will post a piccy,of the requied round headlamp in a 1990 valve, i don`t see why you would need to change your clocks to do this !

Chrome bracket for '88 F2 headlight. (should fit '90)
No clocks fitted but plenty of space left...
I'm no NOS guy that's why I prefered the Vapor meters...

Personally I'd be keeping the fairings. It's the Stupid Square headlight that spoils the appeal. Perhaps a twin round headlight fairing might be more to yer liking.. it is to me. The top half ( Headlight windscreen bit) of the fairing from an 86/88 FZ.. Fits.. onto the Vlavie just like it was made for it. (likely was) You have most of the parts already.. might be a v simple 'alteration.'

Hardly think that your Valvie is a lesser substitute for an LC some might argue that yours is the better Bike Laughing

thanks guys, you've given me plenty to think about,
i reckon i'll still try to ditch the fairing but might have to sort something out for myself about mountings.... hey that's why i bought the bike after all.
sorry if i offended anyone about the lc / ypvs comparison, it was not intended, just that i used to ride LC's and never owned a ypvs before.
thanks again
