In refurbing my YPVS engine covers, the clutch push lever needle bearing is shagged but i can't get it out Shocked Evil or Very Mad Crying or Very sad .
I don't want to wreck the cases trying, but the bugger won't budge.
You can't get underneath it to knock it out, very frustrating Confused
So any advice would be most excellent ( Been watching Bill & Ted Laughing )

heat the casing up with a blowtorch, then tap it out. that should do it.

beek I expect there is a special puller to do these but ive gently heated case around bearing with a blow lamp and with a srewdriver pushed under edge on bearing ( rest srewdriver on small piece of wood to give some leverage) if you can move it just a bit your be able to tap it from underneath. but you need to keep it warm with the blow lamp.

remember heat can distrot case so take care.

or you can use a srewdriver to on edge of bearing and give it a few hard clouts and it will break/ bend so you can get hold with pliers and pull out.

I have tried to grip it with a wheel bearing removal tool and this gripped the needle bearing ,it wouldn't budge, but i didn't apply any heat Confused
I didn't want to hit any harder as i had visions of cracking the case Crying or Very sad

The case of the bearing is quite soft so bending is easy the more its bent the easier it is to come out.

like beek said, all i'll add is that it needs to tapped with a moderate force equally round the edge of the bearing if you can, and then it will come out slowly at first, then move more as you drift it out.

get a small sharp chisle and split the cage in a few placed it will bend inwards and you should be able to pull it out. i have to do this to my cases when they come back from the powdercoaters and will use this way

It's best to just use heat on aluminium casings, there expansion rate is incredible, heat it with a blow lamp and it will just fall out.

Thanks for the replies
The inner bit of the bearing came out fairly easy and all the needles bits fell out.
The outer bit is still there though Evil or Very Mad
I need to apply some heat like you lot say ,so i will have to wait.
I read somewhere if you keep pouring a boiling kettle over the area, would this have the same affect ? Confused

Yeah that would, or a decent fan heater, a hair-dryer. A heat gun would be ideal.

The rate of expansion for aluminium is much higher than steel so a bit of heat wont go amiss.
