Yo, i've tried searching and i know there is a poll on top speeds, but i can't find it no matter what.
Anyway, the bike is slow. It can only reach 145km/h.
The speedometer just gets stuck at 145. You might be able to torture it up to 150, (i doubt it though) but then you would have to torture it much.
I can't hear shite when i ride so i don't know if it revs more after 145.
The strange thing is that the acceleration is (i guess) pretty f*cking good and reaching 145km/h doesn't take long at all. It's like it's restricted on 6th gear or something!
But there can be no such thing can it?
So i wonder if the lc's are geared for 145km/h? I think it's 16/39 on, stock sprockets anyway.
Or is it just the bad aerodynamics and not leaning over the clocks that makes it stop accelerating? Any ideas?
Can the speedo break and not show more then 145? Seems quite impossible but you never know..
One more possibility might be the gearbox. Is it a too large gap between the 5th and 6th gear so the bike is not longer in the powerband after shifting?
It feels somewhat like shifting way too early when i think about it..

Btw.
Earlier i had the needles in a bad position, it accelerated MUCH slower then now but still made 145km/h. So i can't figure this out. It had much less power and still made the same top speed as now.

Suggest reading the tachometer rather than the Speedo.
If you make mental note of the max Rpm's in gear you can calculate the speed..later .. If you cannot reach redline in 6th... then you have More tunning work to do
or new sprockets and perhaps to learn to lie down on the tank as well

Hehe, allright. But laying down feels wierd! It doesn't make any difference on the speedo either.
I shall check the tachometer anyway and try laying down, pushing it to death.
Do you know if clutch slip can do this? I know for sure that it slips quite alot when you shift, maybe it's just slipping and doesn't move the bike forward?

back in 87 my 4 years old LC never registered more than 100mph on the clock, in standard or later in super tuned form alongside a mate on his TZR250 indicating 121mph!
i suggest your speedo is reading badly, as many of them did

Huh, well that might be the case then. Guess i have to try another speedo.
When i think about it, the first time i ran it to 120 km/h it felt like 150 or so.
I was quite shocked when i looked at the speedo showing that little!
But now, 120 doesn't feel fast at all, more like 90. It's hard to say, i might just have got used to the speeds?

Unless you have tuned your engine to the max, the standard clutch and springs have never caused me any problems. Why not fit new plates and springs? stiffer springs will make the clutch lever harder to pull in!! On my proddy racer I found an inner valve spring from a CB550 fitted perfectly and stiffened everything up nicely (I fitted 3 of them), but have not found it necesaary on my RZ's with mild tuning.

The strange thing is that the plates and steel plates are fine (i measured them all and they looked fine in the surfaces) and the springs are in the right measure by far!
I have a 10w40 oil in it.. Maybe too thin?

Even if their thickness is OK, double check the friction plates to make sure they're are not "polished" or "glassy" (I don't know the exact word in english...)

Billy, have you considered that the bike may be OK, but is struggling to get past 145 KM/H whilst carrying your massive intellect?
BTW I may be taking a 12 month contract in Stockholm. Any ideas if I can ride a foreign registered bike around for that long?
