Hi,

My R1-Z has an oil leak from the oil level sensor. I filled the oil tank full last week and now have a pool of oil under the bike. Shocked

It is weeping from the oil tank sensor which is half way down the tank. I have drained the remainder of the oil and removed the tank. The problem is that the sensor seems to be a loose push-fit into the tank. There is no washer or seal of any kind.

Any suggestions?

Cheers, Bob

It doesn't ... sensor is one piece. I used steel tie wire with 2 short pieces criss-crossed over the top of the sensor and then a hoop piece around the tank nipple which catches the criss-cross. It provides downward pressure and has been leak-free for 10 years. Eliminates the need to drain and clean sensor-tank for a silicon fix. Done right, it almost looks factory. It's true DIY ... Bob

Thanks for that. I think I'll have to get a rubber washer of some sort and then either wire like suggested or try and tiewrap it to get the seal.

Cheers, Bob
