creg n bar good spot (pub) if you go to the mountain (jd memorial etc)you are locked in while the race is on. If they have the mountain one way this year you will have an ausom time, make sure your tyres and brakes are good cos you will use them Wink

As mentioned, look out for the police, whilst there are no speed limits outside of towns/villages, the police strictly enforce the limit in towns and the fines are quite heavy!!
Don't try to set the lap record on your first outing, it's a long circuit and takes a lot of laps to learn.. Do go and visit the island, many people stay in Douglas or the large towns, but there is a ton of beautiful country side to see and visit, the costal towns are also very nice to visit. If it's still open, you want to visit Murray's motorcycle museum (on the mountain section) and visit the Laxey wheel and take the tram ride up the mountain.

There is an old disused runway (near Ramsey) that a lot of racers use to setup their bikes, I will try to find it's name, but it's worth going there to watch the bikes and meet the riders and mechanics..

Remember the main roads are closed during the race so try to find a viewing point that gives you the opportunity to move around using the smaller back roads! A good map is essential.. Take an umbrella and waterproof clothes as a lot of spectating is done in the rain!! Watch out for the tram lines when riding your bike in Douglas, they are as slippery as ice on a motorbike.

Have fun, it's a great experience and even better if man and machine return intact.

NEVER ride in the reverse direction of the course or you'll be likely to meet a European (insert nationality of choice) rider coming round on the wrong side of the road !!

Shocked Shocked Shocked

Ginger Hall's good - Pub =food, toilets, beer. Hillberry is another good'un with all you need aswell (Plus a grandstand if you fancy it). Signpost corner is a favourite with facilities in the bungalow where the Marshalls sit(Which anyone can use, but get in early to buy the rolls, or they all go!). If you like fishing, take a rod and spinners/lures and a disposable barbecue and go to the beach at the Point of Ayre for an evening (Add beer if not driving!)- Desolate but magical if you forget about the local tip just down the road! Old Laxey beach is a lovely place also. P.S. Watch the ferry workers and make sure you're happy with how they've tied ur bike up......some fall over and get damaged.... Go to Peel for the beach motocross/ fish and chips..above all ride carefully and have a bloody good time - wish i was coming! Crying or Very sad
