Based in the midlands, got myself another lc rebuild havent finished my first yet, but, I need my new frame blasting and painting.
My other rebuild has a powder coated frame that im not really happy with so was wondering about getting it blasted and painted instead.
Anyone done it? any recommendations in the Midland/warwickshire area likely costs etc;
In advance of the replies
Thanks

Well I got mine blasted and stove enamelled. In my opinion this looks the most like the standard finish, however it is very brittle. It is not very tolerant to spanner slips and even just tightening things against it.
I thought powder was the most robust finish but it can, if not done to a high enough standard be quite a poor looking finish.
Parts we have plastic coated can vary quiet considerable in appearance. The finish can often look milky or have an orange peel effect.
As for paint don't know I guess a cured paint finish is going to be as close to the factory finish as you can get, though I am no expert.

I had my frame powder coated not far from me by Triple S in Bingley West Yorks, they did an excellent job of masking, and very smooth finish, also swing arm done for free with frame offer.

I had mine powder coated and didn't like the appearance - smooth and shiny but too thick, the VIN nearly disapperars. I also found it chips fairly easy and that was enough for me to have is stripped and painted. Shop that specializes in bikes did the frame and associated bits in two stage (base/clear) black polyurethane and it looks bloody brilliant - much better than stock but who cares. They plugged the holes but IMO its better to mask only the steering tube and run a tap through the rest - less chance for rust to get a foothold that way.
