Can't be done on the 31K's you either need to buy a new one; or get a used one I'm afraid.

It can be done, I did it, unfortunately the perspex that I bought to make the new window immediately turned milky white when the brake fluid came in contact with it!! You can push the old window out and fit a new one, but need to find the correct plastic for the replacement window!!

Try Fowlers of Bristol. I got a brand new front master cylinder for my RD500 a couple of years ago for £75 - so your quote for £230 is way out even allowing for inflation and exchange rates. - I had the same problem as you - however I didn't have the nerve to glue a new window in - I had this picture of braking for a sharp bend and all the fluid spilling out of a windowless mastercylinder !!!
Cheers

After destroying my sight glass when prising it out - I laser cut some discs from clear acrylic and secured them in the hole using clear silcone sealant. So far it's lasted a year with no leaks, no discolouration and even looks okay. I can send photos if you like.
That price is way too high - I'm sure I paid less than £100 for an LC2 master cylinder less than a year ago from Fowlers.

Is the PJ1 Case/Frame paint resistant enough for master cylinder usage?
