Heheheheh..carbs..I'll be the expert there then...hhahahahaha..!

Just be cool and expect the unexpected. It can be fixed..probably. Dont settle for anything that splutters...it shouldnt.

now then beast... here's an answer...these carbs i have are 31w with cough cough keyster kits in...splutters like fook b4 the infamous stator failure...i decided to check the air screws...1 1/4 out and needles 4 th from top.
fit clips in 3rd and gave her a run with the new stator...well what a difference!!! jets are standard and plugs br8's and chopped em after a 70mph blast for about half a mile full open..they are nice deep brown so from that i have to conclude its running fine?? as its stock i dont want balls out tune/revs to be honest but the difference is huge..just wonder if the splutter was the winding breaking down???
maybe the beast school of carb tuning will have to referred to again but i will endeavour to make my ypvs run sweet /true and totally standard.

after a 40 mile round motorway hike though the baffels are also really deep brown in the ends also feels to run fine but slight splutter around 6 k if i hold her steady ..just feels she wants to go faster all the time Very Happy
may alter gearing?? but the stator and clip postion def made her come alive again... however the carbs are 31W so gonna fit a good set of 31k and see what happens and let you know the outcome. Smile

The stumble is over rich on the transition. You need to reverse the needle setting as you currently have it to high. I reckon you should try the clip one above middle or middle. When they go rich they start to 4 stroke only for a moment but it pees you off.

Mine was a sod. I went high and low on the needle and it made no difference and that was because the needle valve was over fuelling.

Let us know how you get on mate.

Mistah Beast.

ps..edited note..I cant read properly cos Im too drunk..correct me tomorrow if I missed summut.

beast runs fine in mid position with a stumble at 6k if i hold her at 6k in top...bike runs smooth upto 9.5 k though but dont want to risk twisting crank.... Laughing Laughing
gonna try the 31k carbs though...and let ya know how i get on.

As long as its smooth in the other gears all the way through I think you'll have to live with the problem in top. I found on standard gearing 70mph is just coming onto the power in top gear hence what you describe. Ive had it before on a standard bike on motorway runs. You could I suppose upgear the bike but this might upset your fun low down.

Really the LC is an urban bike isn't it. Its not meant for hikes up and down motorways and if it was me I'd live with it. Also dont hold it at 6k.

Im looking at a Hayabusa this week in Runcorn so thats my motorway cruising sorted..!

The other option is to lobby Parliament to upgrade motorway speed limits to 115mph and that should do you fine..!

Laughing

Beast.
