My bike ran fine, though I thought it a little weird that every time I kicked it the valve would cycle, but whatever... then today - nothing. no "rinh-ruhn" when I turned the key, when it was kicked, or when it was running... wtf.

So I take the body work off ('83 btw), and start testing wires. Attached my servo motor to a trickle charger, it worked. When I tested the plug from the harness to the servo I was getting 0V on the B/R and the B/Y wires ( tried them grounded to the bike and to each other). So i guessed that for some reason the controller was not allowing power to the motor. So I modified the plugs on a 1UA controller, and bingo, all is well. Very Happy

Now, I have found the post that contains how to find/fix the fault with the board. Has anyone ever fixed one though? Did it last?

You have al;ready done the 'simplest' repair. The Zeel unit is the next step up price and performance.. but you will also need the programmer unit. $$
Short of sending your old broken unit to Brasil? I suspect yer on your own patching it.
The damned things are potted, just to add insult to repair efforts.
