Hey Folks,

I've ordered the wemoto-stator for RD350 ypvs 83/84.
The measured resistances are different from the genuine part.
I'll hope it will run. Did anybody have experiences with the wemoto part ?

Cheers
Frank

Funnily enough I've also had a problem with an aftermarket stator but from electrex world.

I currently have no spark which I thought to be strange as all the parts on my project had been tested with my multimeter and on my running ypvs. I then re-tested all the components and found that the source and primary coil resistances differed by a considerable amount. I then emailed them, below is a copy of their reply;

"Hi

Check the air gap with the pickup and rotor this should be about 1mm, it can sometimes get moved in transit.

We have always made these stators the same –for about 7 years. Brown – green on oem stators is typically 140 ohms not 225.

Hi
Having fitted this stator I was suprised to find that no spark was produced. Having swapped cdi's, coils and regulator with my running ypvs it led me to believe the stator was not working. So I tested source coil resistances between the red/brown and brown/green wires

The resistances stated by Yamaha for the RD350 LCII are;

red to brown - 5.3 ohms (-+20% @ 20c)

brown to green - 225 ohms (-+20% @ 20c)

The actual resistances with this stator are;

red to brown - 2.5 ohms (-+20% @ 20c)

brown to green - 136 ohms (-+20% @ 20c)

Rich I would suggest swapping the red/green wires if you cant get the bike to run. You can use an 83/84 CDI on a later stator using this mod and vice versa.
