Pissed off, been building an Lc for several years now Over 4, bought a supposed reconditioned engine from a 'fellow lc enthusiast' based in walsall west mids who owned a nice candy blue special about then.

When i bought it i was told that it was in decent nick and that had got plenty of life left in it as he had just had it reconditioned, so bought it and paid a reasonable amount of cash.

Stupidly didnt check the motor but as i had bought it from someone in the Lc club thought i would be okay.

Well this engine ended up being stored in my house, nice and warm and regulary had oil put into it and down the bores( through spark plugs ) etc, so wasnt worried about stripping it until i was ready just to clean it out and set it up, fit new seals etc, anyway last night started to strip it and guess what the crank is fecked with far too much movement, the bores are on +200 and the pistons are cracked, now i have never ran this engine.

So at the least i am looking at the crank being done and trying to replace the barrels with some with enough meat left, i know i could go bigger but having seen other posts on here not really recommended.

So just like to say if i ever see you out there or meet you again i will be expressing my displeasure to you, so thanks alot you theiving lying cretin.

No name and shame would love too but it would cause all kinds of problems for the web site.
But they know who they are.

This website has nothing to do with the LC Club so I am not sure how it could cause all sorts of problems for this website.
At the end of the day unless the person knowingly sold it to you in that condition then I don't see a problem.
They may not have know the condition themselves, having never run it themselves and taking it on the word of the person they bought it from.

I bought an FII from a member of this site and it was a right bodge job engine wise.
When I spoke to them they explained that they had taken it as a part exchange and had not had a proper look at it themselves.

It was bought as a re-con (right con would have been better description) he claimed it was a sound engine i took him at his word stupidly, that the crank had recently been done (what he meant was it had recently been fecked) what annoyed me was i sold a reasonable 4L1 motor to help pay for it.
Just the deception, i try to be as honest in anything i sell and would never knowingly do someone.
Still not the first time, i have bought numerous bits that have been described as decent etc; only to be done for this feckin thing.
Wouldnt mind but normally not gullible, but seem to be cursed with Lc's.
And whats the common denominator ME Dooh.

The lesson i learned was not to buy a complete lump but get the engine in bits so you can inspect each part and send it back if its crap.
Nearly a year down the line ,i'm almost there Embarassed

That really f**ks me off when people do that.

Good piece of advice my friend ' Trust is earned and not given'.

Oh and buy a knackered engine, at least you know it's knackered. Wink

Have to agree with beek here, no problem naming them on the forum and giving them a chance to justify their con job, plus the bonus of all other forum guys being aware of a shysters ID.

too right, they are cheap and you know what needs to be done.
You still have 2 rebores yet, if its no good at 2mm, and you cant have it honed and new pistons and rings.
