Gents, here is the latest word on the LC fuel tanks. It seems there was a misunderstanding at the factory; they thought they had patterns for building the LC tank but upon my reviewing a photo sample of a tank in primer it would seem the tank in question belongs to an XS650 or similar - check out the pic: www.twostrokeshop.com/01.jpg
So, after all this time I've been badgering the factory for sample pics of their LC tanks, it seems they have made just about all the old school Yammy tanks, bar the LC!
So then of course the cost is going to be more to produce what will be for the factory a fresh tank design. I have to send a sample LC tank for them to set up the repro jigs. That's going to delay things a couple of weeks.
Best info I have to hand at the moment is a revised pricing of around £185 per LC tank, but I have to wait for the official quote from the factory before giving you accurate prices.
Sorry about all the kerfuffle chaps, but we need to be absolutely sure the buggers are going to reproduce the right bleedin' tank!
I will report back once I get a confirmed quote on the repro rates.
Cheers,
Steve

sure you will find takers, what type of filler will they have and can you do them with F2 type fillers.

The filler will be stock LC type on the production run; there would have to be a separate run of tanks that can accept the F2 type filler. It can be done, if enough people want that. Anyone else like the idea of the F2 filler on the LC tank?
Cheers,
Steve

I must say, it's very encouraging to get such positive response to the LC tank re-manufacture.
It will take a few days to get the sample tank flown over to the factory and then we'll get a clearer picture of the timeline and costs involved.
What might make things easier is that most of the interested chaps seem to be in England, Europe and a few Down Under and in NZ .... so regarding freight it might just be a two-way split, with a smaller batch of tanks going to North America.
Shipping will have to be by sea for the bulk of the tanks of course. Even then it won't be all that cheap because of the formulas freight carriers use to calculate 'volumetric weight.' Typically with shipping, even a dense boxed cluster of engines is going to get charged on volume rather than weight - just the way it is.
