As I've just fitted KR1S carbs I have had to muck about with the oil feeds. I was thinking that clear pipe would be a good idea as you could keep an eye on oil delivery but in the past I have had bikes that some Muppet had fitted with clear petrol pipes that were now brittle because of the fuel. I suspect this will also happen with 2 stroke oil, can anyone recommend a clear pipe that will be suitable?
Cheers,
Mark...

get some at any good lawn equipment parts /service store.
they use in on 2 stroke chainsaws/grass trimmers etc.
Over here it is called "tygon" funky glow in the dark yellow colour you can see through.
just take some old line to compare, it will be the same i.d put slightly bigger o.d.

I seen clears lines on a 350LC at the North West 200 last week. Very good idea which I think I'll have to copy.
Having said that, I then remembered many moons ago in my early 2 stroke days that some lads had them on thier bikes.
I had them fitted to my old DT and later a YPVS.
The years must've killed off a few cells in the ol' grey matter that I had forgotten about this "mod"

its ok, just think what your old cells in your gas/oil line feel like

I would equalize the oil line lengths for both carbs. There can be no other reason why (on mine anyhow) the left cylinder smokes more than the right on warm up other than the difference in "reservoir" capacity in unequal length lines.

Yeah jante ... except that the actual oil hole into the carb throat (stock configuration) is like 1 mm in diam. Seems like a hole that small would act like a check valve when no pressure exists. Also the lines tie in from below ... so there is no residual head pressure short of the bike laying on it's side (I guess there would be ... from the oil tank itself since the pump checks block reverse flow ... but that wouldn't be angle dependent).

I have seen this uneven smoking before. Usually the result of slightly uneven throttle slide positions. Also a slightly higher fuel level in that particular carburettor caused by worn float valve or dirt can cause more smoke. Parking on sidestand makes this worse. Oil pipe length can't influence smoking because atmospheric pressure can not freely act upon the pump side of the pipe.
