Just finished refinishing these. Pipes have only about 1 hours use from new (removed from a new bike) but due to scratches from being moved around over the years and a factory mismatch of paint (one matte - one half matte, half shiny) they needed a redo. Got them blasted and sprayed with Duplicolor Low Gloss Black engine paint. Paint looks very close to OEM finish, super easy to apply a smooth coat, dries fast and even blends well if you need to touch it up. I had one tiny speck that needed to be spotted, sprayed through a piece of paper with a hole punched in it and the spot disappears when dry. From what I was told about this stuff is to apply it as thin as possible or it may burn off - hopefully I don't have it too thick. Sure looks good though.

A flick of paint transfoms pipes, nice job.......
Ideally the paint needs to be baked on !
I am lucky on that front,I bake them near a glass melting furnace at work Wink .....pipes get uniformly hot ....sorted.. Smile

Or, stick a 500' heat gun down them and cure them for about 15 min, allow to cool for 2 hrs and repeat.
This really does improve the finish.

Yes, they should be green, and if fact they were green. But sadly there was some corrosion on them and it was either black or rusty spots so not a real tough decision. With most paints heat only speeds up the curing process - doesn't make it any harder plus with pipes the eventually get warm anyway so no worries. For small bits though, I do stick them in the oven to speed things up - about 200F for 30 minutes does nicely.

PS - just noticed that paint is marked ceramic on the label. Hope it works well.

Not sure exactly, got a few bits to order yet and some cleaning and other tasks to wrap up before the lump can go together.

Plus paint - thinking about candy blue.

Don't go all out from the start, run the bike for 5 mins then let it cool, then 10 and cool, then a short blast and cool. Sort of bakes the paint on and "primes" it for the full temperature.

Not sure if it is, Duplicolor is the brand name, dunno if you'd have it WITH or without the U Laughing but it they have VHT on their website so are affiliated in some form with PJ1 brands so it might be.

Calipers are sprayed and in the oven as we speak. Twisted Evil
