I think the standing quarter is favoured because there isn't really enough discrepancy between bikes with 0-60 to tell you much. I remember an FZR1000 doing it in 1.8...

What Ive dug up on the net, with no real evidence behind it for sure is:

Aircooled 350 : 5 secs (This I believe)
RD350F2: 3,5 secs (This I doubt!)
RD500: 2,9 secs (It can do it in first, sort of, so this might be true)

If these figures are accurate, then I dont think Rich is that far out with 4,5, im guessing maybe abit faster around the 4 sec mark?

Anyone know the topspeed of an lc250?
Mine only does 140km/h with a fat and ugly rider sitting upright.

From one UK magazine 1980 road test :

RD350lc 0-100km : 6.5 sec. 400m. : 13.9 sec. max. 176 kmh
RD250lc 0-100km : 8.7 sec. 400m. : 15.2 sec. max. 165 kmh

Canadian 1983 RZ350 is about 12.85 in the 400m.
