Just had engine rebuilt. New crank/pistons/bore.
Got some premix in tank just to get make sure it does not seize as oil pump was a little slow to get started.
Now, it just lacks power, it struggles to rev, it gets to about 4-5,000 then nothing really - just total lack of umph.
It feels like it's either clogged up inside with all the oil it's getting(?) spark plugs are wet as hell.
Any ideas? my worst fears are the pistons/bore are knackered (but how?) or more to do with way too much oil carb' mix and needs a good set up.
I have put neat petrol in but maybe still getting a little too much premix left in the tank.

Guy who helped me rebuild it (races LC's) is away on holiday so i cannot get hold of him to ask so hence i am asking the forum. My knowledge of engines/carbs is limited....'I am a stonemason Jim, not a mechanic'.

run it in first b4 jumping to bad conclutions..have you fitted stator corect and timing spot on???
leave the premix and alter the pump to add a tad extra oil during run in etc...give the engine chance to settle though...i supect timing is out /stator position.
gaz

Dont forget that adding oil to your fuel will give you a lean condition if you don't jet up.

I don't know if this will be any help bud, but have you checked the carbs? (What, Again Rolling Eyes )
My F2 was running grand up to about the same and then just bogging right down once you opened the throttle - turned out, one of the main jets 'had come lose' and was sitting in the float bowl Embarassed

When you say that it struggles to rev, is this the case no matter what the revs? - or just when it gets to 4/5k scratch

It struggles when getting to 4000, it just doesn'r rev clean, it's like revving with the choke full on (now there's a thought!)

So, lets get this right.............
You have built the engine with plenty of oil, you are running auto lube-pumping oil into the engine AND you are running pre-mix as well.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm and its not running cleanly.

Wonder what that is Confused Confused Confused Confused Confused Confused Confused Confused Confused Confused Confused Confused Confused Confused Confused

Check the rear sprocket, must be that Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Put neat fuel in it, and new plugs.
Then rev it till it clears.

Less of sarcasm Trig! I have put neat in if you read above (okay, maybe a pint left in) but will do as you say.
Oh, thanks for rear sprocket tip.

This sounds like you have swapped over the carb slides. Check if the cutaway on the slides is facing the airbox.

Also recheck carbs, to make sure your not on choke all the time, or anything else is blocking up the airways... is there a rats nest in your airbox?
