I took my RD400F bare frame and the 400F I bought recently up to John Warrington Motorcycles in Malton on Saturday. Small place but they are into Turbo drag bikes and top speed machines. Top place he has an ace dyno set up and the proper kit to check and straighten frames. He said he does the frames for 3 BSB teams, brand new bikes, but he mods the frame to exact dimensions, they are usually out of true out of the crate.

He did the full bike and bare frame geometry check and they are both spot on. Head angle was actually 28.38 deg with the bare frame a few tenths difference. This is actually within tolerance but measuring the head angle with the bike upright fully compressed forks gave 24.5 degrees and fully extended 28.9 degrees.

He talked be through the whole process and showed me a bunch of other stuff they were doing. Total cost £60.

There were a couple of customers there, a road legal Turbo Busa with 380bhp and the back wheel (owner was there and must have been in his 60's) and had clocked 237mph recently with a 1.5 mile run up. The other was a race only bike with 550bhp at the back wheel which had been timed 0-180mph in 9 seconds. I asked how much and he reeled off £30k's worth of kit in about 2 mins err and he told me his wifes bike was a turbo Bandit 12 making 280bhp.... Shocked

They seemed perfectly normal guys..LOL..there were a shed load of other turbo stuff there, some part built inc a Harris Magnum turbo with trick suspension.

Deffo worth a visit just for a chat, made me a coffee and feel very welcome. Old school bike shop and one to remember.
