Now then gang .. i just recently bought another 31k with matching frame and engine numbers (*31k-004???*) unfortunately for me, there is no paper-work (V5) or Number plate, & to be honest i know absolutely f-all about
re-registering it, so what do i do next ? I have a full receipt from the guy who sold me it, who assures me it legit and not a ripped off bike ( i would have fook all to do with it if it was !! ..) The Frame and engine are bog standard with no mods, and the bike is to be re-built/restored to hopefully better than original condition, & wondered what forms do i need to fill in to get its original licence plate & corresponding V5 ? is there any type of online service (free?) that i could punch in the Vin an' cherchingggggggg !! i get instant details ?

Cheers in advance - Marshy Very Happy

If you still have the receipt, contact the previous owner for the reg no, or photos and just apply for a V5 as normal.
If no joy, you're screwed I think.

you can hpi it with just the chassis number, they'll give you the reg number and tell you how many times it's been crashed/stolen etc as well.

Do you get a warm sensation the closer you get to the bike OR do your fingers get scalded if you touch the VIN / engine number ? Laughing .

Cheers guys, i will go down the HPI check route methinks & to answer Bertie_Mollie's question - unlike some other toe rags, i dont deal in "Hot Bikes" - i am a reputable restorer who buys/trades only bona-fide bikes, this particular bike has been in a garage for n-years & the "Old Geez" who sold me it in a pile of bits seemed a little to old to be going around nicking valves and selling them on .. besides, if by some slim chance the numbers dont check out, i would gladly cart it into the local Plod shop without hesitation .. IM KIN' GOOD LIKE THAT !?! Shocked

Jeeeesh !!! - am i a bit dense or what !?! - ive just spent the last few hrs scoping out various online hpi/vin check sites, only to find after subscribing to the site as a member that you have to type in your License Plate number, then engine & Vin numbers before o search can begin - (ahhhhhhhhhhhrgghhhhh..) and there lies the problem, I dont have a kin' number plate !!!!!!! - so its around and around in circles i go, like a mad dog trying to sniff its own ass !!! - if anyone can point me in the right direction, i would appreciate it A LOT ;0 )

I have no V5 for this bike
There is no Number plate for this bike
Bike does have its original/matching engine/frame numbers intact

Q:- How do i get to find out its original reg number from the stamped engine/frame number ?

Cheers
