ok i have 1 extra crank in a locked bottom motor and my motor rattles/knocks so i want to build a good crank and my goal is about 11.5k rpm what needs to be done to the crank?

i was guessing bearings, trueing and welding the pressed in pieces ?

Yes, but unless you're an expert don't even think about it. Norbo does a PX on cranks at a good price

It is possible but you will need a jig.

When its done, make sure ALL the pins are tig welded if you want to rev it hard.

I'm guessing that with a locked up BE there's a good chance you've got some rusty (junk) pins and will need a parts crank. Cheaper to get an aftermarket one.

Find another crank (or 2 or 3 and hope there's enough good bits to make one up. The pins are part of the inner webs so you can't just replace the pins, took three cranks to get enough for one good one on the LC crank I had done. Otherwise you can order a complete OEM crank from Yamaha, a compete centre section from Yamaha or buy an aftermarket one for substanitally less - just be careful of getting junk. Word is Hotrods cranks are decent - others maybe not. Depends where you're located too.
