Got all my 4 sets of barrels out to measure them.
And i have a set of 350 barrels that have been machined down about 4mm at the base, so that it cuts through the 347cc casting, there not really any good, but why would someone do this?????

It's the way SS used to make 'big bore' 375cc kits.
You had to do this to the barrels to accept the DT MX piston

Well, in theory yes.
The 'big bore' kit wasn't sold as a performance upgrade but more of a 'gone past max o/s' and need a solution thing.
You need the right DT175MX piston and have to machine the skirt a bit to get it to fit etc.
I couldn't tell you exactly as I've always thought it a waste of time because the DT piston was quite frail and cracked often.
Alot of people here swear by standard sized pistons saying they run smoother but thats a matter of opinion - up to you really.

Got what i thought was 4 sets of barrels, but in reality, one set are scrap and i mean scrap, liner has cracked and split and on +2.0, one set are machined down for the 375 (as i have just found out)
One are on +05, but have seized fairly major time and probably need taking out to +1.5 and one are on +1.5.
So going to have to do some seroius thinking.

I'd send the set at +1.5 to Farnham and ask him to sort them out

Rumour has it someone in Japan is pressing in aluminum liners and plating them - endless supply of std bores.

Yeah ... that's cool on the Al liner. I would imagine they're fragile at the cyl bottom where the liner projects out, if port geometry is maintained. A WC'd CR250 factory nikasil'd (apparently very rare) I saw was around 1/2" thick at the projection.

Don't really know much more - I read it either here or the yank board but forget which.
