just fitted the digital ignition , this has two power curves programed in which are now switchable via the indicator switch

battery has been instaled into the airbox a metal frame which has then been fibre glassed in placed leaving just enough room for the standard filter .

That's a really nice job.

I used to hillclimb a supermoto'd CR500, can't imagine what it will be like on the road-I got double vision on mine up to about 3500rpm!!

Looks good fun. What pipe silencer are you using (do you have a friendly MOT man?) Very Happy

What year is it? It's very much like my brothers cr125 1986, i guess this is somewhere around the early 90's?
Tons of parts look the same. I like those old cr bikes, they look so nasty! Smile

its an 87 (reconed to be the most power engine before honda softened it up) with later 89 front end . bought the wheels cheap and then spent a fortune having harris scallop the rear swinger and brace it to make the rear fit , although i bet this is the only cr500 wearing a 4.5" rear wheel . its got a dual stage digital ignition and a 39mm carb . oh the pipe is pro-circuit best compromise increases the revs without flattening the torque curve (haha)

hi pete , nah been busy with a couple of other projects (including sawing lumps off a 350 and 500lc , let the stoning commence ) . hows the trx ? if you still have it

Still got the TRX. Enjoying the first summer on it this year.

Just did the IOM TT for the first time. Fantastic weather and racing. Really enjoyed it. Already booked the ferry for next year.

Cheers

Maybe it's true that the old Honda bikes were powerful? My brothers 125 have an insane (And i mean INSANE!) kick when it hits the powerband, and it revs like nothing i've heard! Power wheelies on 6th gear are no problem, topspeed are 140km/h on a car speedo, probably a bit less then. It was the same with his first Honda 125, an 83 model. Ugly as hell and 5 geared but man it could bite hard. Smile It was basically the same engine, not much difference.

The downside with these bikes (dunno if it's the same on the bigger ones though) are the material in the waterpump. It tends to corrode so bad that the water will sooner or later sneak into the gearbox. Confused
