Bit weird this one, the bike runs fine and starts with just a prod on the kicker, but never the less i'd thought i'd check the tdc with a dial gauge only to find it's 2 degrees out, and yes i've checked everything several times just to make sure.....so... do i go with the gauge or do i sit happy with a bike that runs just fine ????? Confused Confused

A common modification is to alter the timing from the standard 2.00mm before TDC to 1.8mm before TDC. With a 54mm stroke and 180 degrees of rotation in that stroke then 1° of rotation shoud be 0.3mm of vertical movement, I think.

Of course my reasoning above might be wrong but it makes your 2 degrees sound like a lot. Although ignition advance keys for 4-strokes are often 3° so maybe it is OK.

I guess I don't know! At least I've bumped your post up nearer the top though!
