When I turn on the ignition, the exhaust valve used to just go through one cycle. Now when I turn it on, it does not shut off after the first cycle and the motor continues to make noise. Any ideas or suggestions?

Does it continue forever?
The valve will cycle differently depending on when it was stopped...
It's supposed to end in the open position.

It's either a problem with the YPVS controller or the pot in the servo itself. 1st thing to do is to pull the cover off the cable pulley housing on the cylinder, disconnect the cables, then make sure the valves turn freely. If they do then it has to be the controller/servo.

Motor Cannot continue forever unless a gear is also stripped as the Cables on the pulley allow only so much rotation... then everything jams / stops.
Either way you are going to be need a replacement for your controller or servo.

If the motor turns forever, it sounds like you have stripped a tooth or two in the servo unit, that prevents the cables from making their full travel and the unit will never stop. Sounds like tou need a new servo unit, or a new set of gears for the servo unit.

I'm very impatient, so if the servo turns for more than 10 seconds, that's forever in my book!!!

Ken, where are you based (what country)? I might have some spare gears I can send you but it would be better to know which one you need so I can make sure I have it!!

I had stuck cables and the servo motor was left ticking. After readjusting and oiling the cables it was fine. I bought new cables from Norbo though.

I'll check the cables today. I already tooked the Servo motor apart and the gears seem to be fine.

You then might have 2 problems: Broken cables AND a broken controller
Motor can only turn untill it reaches the end of cable travel.
But there are 2 cables, and it's improbable that Both are sheared.
