Post subject: RG250 MK3 fuel tap

The RG250 MK3 fuel tap is a nightmare - it's one of those remote jobbies that bolts to the frame with 2 fuel pipes coming down from an outlet on the tank. It's a right pain taking the tank off as you have to leave the tap attached and feed it though the frame and round the left carb while you lift the tank off. Also, the back of the tap sits right where the left choke wants to be and on my bike the two fuel pipes are fighting for space with the left ramair filter.
Has anyone replaced the tap with one from another model, or come up with a better arrangement? I realise that the outlet on the tank sits behind the side panel but I'm prepared to cut a round hole in the panel if I could find a suitable tap that would fit direct to the tank.
Cheers

I'd be interested in this too! It is a nighmare to get the tank off!
I've made mine a litte easier by making the hose from the fuel valve go behind and then between the carbs to a "T" where the fuel line splits to either carb. The fuel pipes aren't fighting for space any more. I'm not sure if it's the best set up, since my yammagamma still has some ironing out. When it ran, I couldn't keep the front wheel down!
When I remove the tank, I shut the valve off, unbolt the fuel tap, and remove the hose from the valve to the carbs at the valve. The valve only has the two fuel pipes from the tank. It's much easier to take the tank off now.
Rich, you're yammagamma posts have helped me tons on my build.

LOL...
Rich, just live with it.
It's a bit of a hassle and just on eof those things,
It's the same reason that so many early GSXR's have broken fuel taps - including mine.
Flipping things get in the way, the 500's have a tap design in the same way and it's a nuisance.

But the 500 is easy, you just remove the screw in the middle of the tap and let the linkage drop down behind and then take the tank off. It takes seconds to remove a tank on the 500!!

What about those self sealing fuel line quick connectors?
(They're called in-line fuel couplers. Not cheap, but better than effing about with the RG fuel lines https://www.slipstreamperformance.com.au/store/product_info.php?cPath=266&products_id=2962 as I have found)
Apparently you can unfasten them and the line is then sealed.
i'm gonna dispense with the tap on my next bike and use them.
BTW I had a MKII and I HATED working on the carbs. ALWAYS cut myself EVERY TIME
