Anybody ever fitted the additional engine stay bars (4LO-21314-00 / 21319-00) to an earlier frame without the brackets ?
Is it just a case of welding on some lugs to mate up in the correct position?
And is it worth the hassle for the difference, if any, it makes.
Cheers,
Andy

yes you can get some brackets welded onto the frame, but if you're using aftermarket pipes with springs on the manifolds there's no point

Cheers,
Are the additional brackets just there to prevent the exhaust 'snapping' problems on the first models ??

Yama cleverly went from 3 mounts on the Aircoolers to only 2 mounts on the water coolers. Wasn't enough.
The bars are there to prevent sideways/torque rotation of the engine problems..of which the first visible symptom was broken exhaust flanges..
Yama would not have retrofitted the bars if they didn't have to.

I have an early LC with no engine stabilisers fitted. I've run it for two years with standard pipes with the thicker flanges and not had a problem.
The earlier pipes had thinner flanges and would crack at the base of the exhaust flange.
