Hi guys,
I have bought a Yamaha XJ 600-N that has been standing for over a year!
It starts up and will stay running but only if I keep the revs up. When I leave go of the throtle it cuts out.
I have tried carb cleaner spray in the top of the carbs which seems to make it start better, and have also put Redex in with the fuel, in hope that it would clean out anything that is blocked...
Any sujestions?? Thanks,
Pedro

empty the carb float bowls and the tank and throw away all the old petrol, if you must use redex as a cleaner you will need to run a few tankfulls of fuel through before it will have worked its magic

Aye, sounds like the pilot jets are blocked. If they won't clean up with carb cleaner, (never do for me), try, (gently), using micro drills to clean them through.

Ive found cracked intake rubbers causing similar issues on and XJ before, but most likely just a good clean of all the carb interiors will do the trick..
