finaly got the money together for a full conversion on my ypvs lump . going to go for the 425cc , but advice so far leads me to believe the cub produces more mid-range than the cheetah (with pvs) which surprises me . i have been told that this is because the 425 cheetah is more a downsized 485 and the inlets etc are to large causing the engine to fluff in the midrange . i was also told the cub (non pv) is more exciting when it comes on the pipe , know that i can believe .
so is someone trying to clear stock . any experiences please

Must be. All the research I did said the Cub, which was designed as the budget version of the Cheetah, was also designed with it's primary porpoise in life being to be a Banshee bolt on kit for yanks wanting to drag race.
It's 2 main advantages being that is a lot cheaper as no PV (& set up to use many of stock parts std), but also as another money spinner for CP Industries who could market them to multiple sources & not tied into Trinity who have the rights to market Cheetah.
So no, go the Cheetah if you aren't dragging it. Have read of people tuning them ok, but also read horror stories of being too peaky in a trackday bike.

cost is QUITE DIFFERENT !!!
forget the Super cubs , only designed for drag
get a 421 cub for a good budget or massive money project AT least a 485 PV cheetah

PERFORMANCE WISE :
how much difference between the 425 and the 485 . heard the 485 engine is a lot more vibbey and turns out not much extra bhp but more torque and less revs ?

60cc is always going to make a difference. Rereading my post it is a bit unclear, sorry 'bout that.
My 496 while I can't say I've done many miles on it, really only test ones, but I wouldn't say it vibrates more than std that I remember & it is in a thin RG frame. Maybe a bit more on closed throttle, maybe.

As I understand it from Trinity, the 485 kit is the largest you can go without milling the case to accomodate the stroke. It's got to be a huge wake-up over the stocker!?

Trenching & boring the cases isn't a particularly large deal. You have to buy a new crank so why not buy a 7mm over? Not much has to be taken out for 7mm over, a 3mm skim for the trench.

7mm and 10mm cranks cost the same outrageous amount ( though the $ is cheap at your end of the pond ) so why go 7mm ?
