Can somebody please tell me what causes the clutch on a 31k to slip? I just went out today, and while giving the beast some, the clutch slipped..Am I in need of getting some new clutch disks?

Wrong oil maybe? I have car oil in mine (Yea i know i shall replace the damn thing sometime... Laughing) and it doesn't work fo shiet.. Slips like crazy when being in the powerband, and my plates/springs are spot on and the whole thing is correctly set up etc.

Car oil - i got to know - contains stuff that makes less friction or something wacky. And this is causing clutch slip.

mis-adjustment, bad oil, worn friction plates, worn clutch cable, springs out of tolerance, wear in clutch basket. check in that order.

make sure the cable has some free play

lube the cable

make sure the adjuster has some free play

if it still slips change the oil

after that , if it still slips take of the side cover and remove the friction plates and measure, as well as the spring free length.
sometimes a washer under the spring retaining bolt washer cures this problem.

the 31K has a better clutch actuator than the 4LO and I wish you well with your problem.
