The collar around the petrol cap is damaged and leaks if I fill the tank anywhere near full, I have tried to pull it back to shape, but no luck.

Can I fit this type of cap, have read lots of threads about cutting and welding in new parts to the top of the tank but I want a relatively easy fix.

I Can cut the tank no problems but not good at welding!

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Yamaha-DT-RD-TZR-FZ-XJ-FZR-YZF-R6-TDM-XJR-FUEL-TANK-CAP_W0QQitemZ250264254562QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item250264254562&_trkparms=72%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C65%3A12&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

Will this fit the tank just by cutting out the stuffed collar? as I said would preferr to cut and NOT weld.

Help and suggestions please, can someone suggest a cap that will fit that may be available on Evilbay?

Rich Hi, don't know if it's possible to fit one to an LC tank easily. I think the preferred way to do it is to cut the top out of an old F2 tank and weld it into the LC tank.

So if I go down the cut and weld route, anyone know of some one in the Peterborough area that can do the welding for me?

I was hoping not to have to weld, but if thats the way it has to be...

You will need a F2 or TZR250 tank to cut out the cap holl and then cut out yours and weld the ypvs on in / You then need to filler in the bumps left by the welding so its all smooth befor spraying .

Trawling through all the threads on the forum, I saw this cap and have just checked it out on Demon Tweeks, but as per usual no sizes or info, has anyone fitted this type of cap. I cant find the original threaf now, dam should have added it to my favourites!

I think it was Andy that suggested the part... any one know for sure if its gonna fit

any one tried it?

let me guess - someone who didn't have the key but did have a crow bar Wink

I had the same thing on one of my old bikes, virtualy impossible to get back to normal. Having a new recess put in is quite a skilled job i'd have thought, you'de have to look out for the tank warping with the heat. End result looks good tho.

couple of screwdrivers and brute force from the prevoius owner, did not notice the bend in the lip untill after it was sprayed and it leaked for the 1st time, thought it was the cap so changed that, I have tried a few times with a block of wood and a mallet to get it to seal again but no joy, it dont look that bad to the eye but the petrol finds its way out.

looks like I am stuck with it though dont want to cut and weld even though it looks the mutts nuts in the picture above.

Just bog it up with hylomar, and carry a tube with you and bog it up each time you fill up?
