Split oil seal on oil pump shaft...when i changed the gearbox oil this oil also had a red tinge to the colour and the oil level was only 800cc3.....
i wonder why!!!!! anyhow lads check this often forgotten seal as a matter of habit if you change the waterpump seal or do anything to the casing/oilpump area...
couldnt believe ive seen one so bad.....these so called "fully rebuilt" motors.....mmmmm not.

Looks like it was going to be changed (removal marks), then was forgotten about, or it was changed ... incompetently. No way it could get that way under normal use.

Looks like someone was also fairly careless with the paint spray can, judging by all the black overspray on the casing..
I can't really see why the seal will make the bike smoke! I would expect that some 2 stroke oil might get in the gearbox (that won't make it smoke, but is not good for the gearbox), but I would not expect much gearbox oil to get in the 2 stroke oil!! This seal is above the engine oil normal level and the 2 stroke oil tank is much higher so gravity is forcing 2 stroke oil out into the engine, but nothing is really forcing engine oil into the 2 stroke system!!
The seal definately needs changing, but I think you still have another problem causing the smoke.. Sad

I suspect it's normal, it was like that on both of my clutch covers, also inside the left hand engine covers. Very Happy
I've seen it on other covers aswell but i'm not sure about the paint there, might have been sprayed with cans.
