Will any alterations to the track fook it up for bikes. The guy fron Dono said on the TV yesterday that the track would be extended into the infield, be interested to see the proposals when them come out.
Also there is the the rippling of the surface in the braking areas due to loads of downforce etc.
I live close by and the area is chocker with traffic when a big meet is on, the single carriageway road from the M1 is nose to tail all the time.

Personally I think it will not happen in the timescale and the GP will stay at Silverstone?

If Bernie the great hasn't died by 2010, then it will happen. All mods to track and surrounding roads can done in one winter or less. Track damage is no issue..never noticed anything at Silverstone. Personally I dont give a sh*t..its just Ecclestone and his muscle flexing again.

Found this on another web site which may give some idea as to the planned extensions to the track

1) New pits/paddock up by McLeans/Coppice.
2) Coppice widens out and a new straight joins at the Esses down to Melbourne
3) Infield loop from Goddards then back uphill returning before Redgate.
4) All the good stuff on the northside is untouched.

personally i think it will be better as i prefer donnington to silverstone, its got more character. this is providing they don't change it too much. i was gutted when they stopped hockenheim going through the trees - isnt an element of racing the fastest cars in the world danger? and coming off the track? i understand about barry sheen's plight to make GP a safer sport etc in the 80s because of dangerous obstructions etc - but i feel the pursuit of safety has gone a bit silly of late.

It will be farcical trying to get out of the circuit on Raceday if they don't put a bypass in.
Went in 93? when it was wet, didn't do anything for me, Silverstone everytime, but whe you have been to Spa, nothing else competes.

It will be '' Total Chaos '' .......

Road system around Donnington will not take the volume of traffic .....

Download & Moto GP already cause traffic chaos ....

Fred.

Everyone raves about the 93 European Grand Prix but all the action happened in the first lap when Senna went from 4th to 5th then took the lead by the loop Shocked after that the other 75 laps were pretty boring apart from a few tyre changes from wets to slicks then back to wets. Seem to remember they were lapping in 1:18 though Shocked

As long as they leave the good bikey bits alone and improve the facilities I think it'll be a good thing. They'll certainly have to do something about the roads into and out of the circuit though. I was last there in 2005 (when it absolutely bucketed down all day) and getting out of there on a bike was crappy enough. We went in the car in 2004 and it was a bloody nightmare. Just imagine all those Mondeos and Vectras nose to tail trying to get out of the car parks all at once Shocked Laughing

I agree, i actually left early on Download '06 and '07 to skip the traffic and it was a smart move. Iron maiden and Guns and roses were crap anyway.

but as others have said, providing the facilities and the road network are sorted out, there shouldnt be a massive problem.

would this cause a problem for Download and similar events though? the fact that it would make the venue more expensive? would it? i dont know...

The traffic will be a disaster, bad enough on a bike, the timescales a bit short as well, I cannot see it being done in time

i think Bernie knows it wont be done in time,Silverstone cant be arsed to implement improvements and the GP will be given to another money rich country to stage the race..personally id rather go to the european rounds, better value, weather, cheaper too,and none of the traffic bollox or poor facilities.........

be a shame to lose the british round tho......hopefully dinigton will sort it,but like others said traffic problems cant see way round that one Rolling Eyes

Fuck Bernie Eccelestone and his wanker mate Max Moseley.
Hope it falls flat on its arse and Silverstone tell him to bollocks.
