Does anyone have experience/comments/opinions about running an RD 350LC on a petrol-oil mix?
What ratio is recommended?
Is it necessary to remove the oil pump, or to blank off the feed pipe from the oil tank to prevent air being drawn into the system?
Any other comments would be very welcome.

Rich Hi, plenty of info if you do a forum search on 'premix' Wink

However, basically I run my bikes on premix at 40:1 ratio. This works out to 125ml for each 5 litres of petrol and I run fully synthetic oil, usually Castrol TTS. You probably won't do any harm if you simply disconnect the oil pump but it's preferable to remove both the pump and drive as the worm gear is lubricated by oil inside the pump body and may run dry over a period of time. You have to remove the clutch casing which is a pain but once it's done that's it. You should be able to open the throttle junction box and remove the oil pump cable. Then you need to blank the oil pump hole - plenty of places do a nice pretty blanking piece - Stinkwheels (Tony on here), NK racing etc. Or you could be a cheapskate like me and make one from a piece of ally plate Smile Don't forget to blank the oil feeds on the carbs. Theoretically you should jet up a size or two to compensate for the oil in the fuel mix but to be honest I've never bothered.

Good luck!

over-rich jetting will usually allow you to get away with this. However for extended high speed runnning re-jetting and Colder spark plugs would be sensible.
