I have been burning to CD a load of MP3's using Nero 8 but the bastard alphabetically lists them whereas I want them to be random!

Yeah thats great as pc's random play softy can do the job but I and a mates mp3 disc player cant!!!

Is there a way to make Nero burn randomly or mayb another peice of burning software???

I sacked Nero 8 and went back to 7, find it better than 8 but still have a similar problem - when I drag and drop several tracks, the first and last always change place Confused Confused work that one out Confused Confused

you can move them about in the burn list though , just drag and drop them. or burn them in order , then use " shuffle " on the mp3 player !

Try Media Jukebox (free) ...

http://www.mediajukebox.com/

or the the higher end Media Center (30 day trial) ...

http://www.jrmediacenter.com/

... which is what I use (it's the best, bar none). It'll do both audio and data burns even while listening to other tracks. It used to have (and may still) have that ability your looking for. Often though, the program reading the disk will sort (and play) them alphabetically despite the burn order. MJ/MC automatically puts a *.m3u of your burn list on the disk ... will your player read m3u? This wouldn't be ideal for a portable as it will cause a lot of head movement (thus power usage) if tracks are still burnt alphabetically.

I know it's been knocking around for ages, but for music,
I always use RealPlayer, shite for anything else, but had
no aggro with audio whatsoever. It will burn in the order
you specify, and will also match sound volume if it
detects a difference in the tracks. You can download it
free here...

LINK

Just type Real Player in the search box and use the
first link in the list, Real Player v.11

Me too, (use RP), older version tho, best bit is the tab that tells you what's playing when real player is minimised.

Yeah, I forgot about that, soon as you move the
cursor over it you get the pop up so you can save
the clip to the Real Player library, though if you then
wish to move it somewhere else, is not a simple
enough task as it should be.

i got around that by selecting all the tracks then re-selecting the last track. that worked fine. CDs are for oldies its all about mp3 now.

Ardon, dont you have a random button on your CD players?

Or, use your imagination and come up with a playlist!

Ardons cd players are not in question here but mates devices are!

Their shed stereos dont have the random facility!

Take heed folks -

The odds are against free music downloads at the moment and the BPI twats etc will win in the end and free downloaded music will b a thing of the past!

So start up your illegal PTP softy and download everything u can before it's all banned......

I remember the days of the true God of all PTP sites 'Napster' and I aquired hundreds of mp3's from it!!!

Many of us shed a tear at it's passing and its transformation into a 'legal' music store!!!

The web was like an unexplored frontier in them days and it was exciting to be a part of it!!!!..........
