Doing a LC - TZR conversion at the moment -

Anyway was thinking of fitting a Blue Spot caliper from an R1 or R6, but if using just one caliper what master cylinder bore should I be using.

Cheers all.

ø14mm, from a TDR or TZR250. These are almost standard fitment on YPM race bikes (rules say we've got to keep the standard M/Cyl).

Good, strong braking, perhaps lacking a little feel, which can be overcome by using organic rather than sintered pads.

Thanks for that Paul

I'm not sure if I have the right master cylinder - bought that much stuff over the last year - is there anyway to identify the master cylinder.

Are the blue spot calipers better than the standard TZR gold calipers

Mick

The bore/piston ø should be marked on the M/Cyl, either as the number '14' or possibly '9/16'

A standard TDR/TZR caliper in good condition, ie no corrosion in the bores, no pitting on the pistons and with new seals will give good brakes. Some of the YPM racers still use them as they give more feel. However, finding a good standard caliper is a challenge. The cost of refurbishing one is a lot higher than picking up a relatively new Blue Spot from a breakers, often for around the £30 mark or less...

Hi Paul

Looking at your pic are you the guy sponsored by Links?

I have just done Tom's new brochure.

I have a really nice mint caliper apart from a brake fluid run has lifted some of the paint on the front, which is why I was thinking of a blue spot, over getting this blemish out and the caliper re-painted.
Basically looking for an easier option.

Thanks
Mick

Agreed, good brakes but lack feel.
My TDR has a blue spot and I have put a RUBBER hose on it as the lever went very hard with the braided hose.
Better feel this way.

Rich Has anyone tried a 250LC master cylinder on a single blue spot? The 250 has 1/2 inch diameter so may give a less wooden feel.

That's me; an old guy trying to recapture his youth... Racing a TDR against the TZR's was never going to be easy, but Tom's and Martin77's support have made it less hard...

I've got a single blue spot on my FZR 250 front end going into Valvie number 2.

I've chosen an Aprilia 125 M/C, as it's a remote reservoir one, so has the required bling factor. I'm a long way from finding out how it feels though
