Any one know the colors and number of wires that run to the side stand switch for an 85 RZ350. Also, will I get any spark at all if the switch is not connected?

Should be one black and one blue/yellow. If disconnected its the same as having the stand down, you have to put a jumper lead on if you take it off.

If you mean where is the plug, I don't really know on a valvie but look around the battery/airbox area - should be a two wire plastic plug with the above colours - put a jumper lead from one to the other.

Yeah, that kind of the problem. I just got a very used wiring harness and missing is the plastic box that the side stand switch plugs in to. Maybe someone cut off the plastic box to twist the wires together and then over time they came up done.

ok, I found the switch wires and bridged them. still no spark. followed the blue and white wire down from the switch to another white plastic connector with the blue /white, black, sky blue, and dark blue running to it. Is this where the side stand controller connects to? If so do I need the controller or can I bridge it as well?

OK well I was going to suggest a new harness but I doubt very much the US spec ones are available any longer. Has this been cut off the harness?

Yes, you need the controller and either a proper switch or a jumper lead for it to work. I may have a controller somewhere but you would need a new harness from the sounds of things - nothing worse the butchered wires. Try asking for one on here
