Guys,
I have an RZV5 that was imported in '92. It has an age related plate "B". I want to put a private plate on it but a mate has told me you cannot put cherished plates on imported vehicles. I'm hoping thats b*llocks but can anybody here confirm if its the case or not?

Russ

I did it a couple of years ago on an imported Enfield, no problem and I don`t think the rules have changed as my mate has done it a couple of months ago on his imported Viper

What you cannot normally do is transfer the age related number allocated to it, there will be a note in section 3 of the V5 if this is the case.

once a bike is registered in the uk age related or wotever you can put a private plate on no problems.
you can only go older though...for ex
you can fit an A reg on a b/c/d/etc bike but not the other way...eg a d plate on an older bike....
just put a k plate on my car but that was easy to do.
your local dvla ofice will be able to confirm this for you.
if "imported" was the rules then no one could fit private plates on most bikes as they are all imported.. Confused

Thanks guys,
I thought as much. I reckon he is getting his wires crossed with "Q" plated vehicles, as like you say, most vehicles are imported anyway!

onc'ed "q" cant age relate mate just to confirm...by the way my next door neighbour neighbour is a copper....
once a Q the relation of a MISMATCHED vehicle is registered its very hard to add a PRIVATE plate, your mate did in correction get it wrong and refered to Q plates.

Just to confirm what has already been said, I have a 'cherished' plate on my imported Pajero which I had no problems doing.
