Brings back memories

Bought one of my old man back in the 70's, bit of a cafe racer I was 17 at the time, ended using the front end in my 125 racer then sold the rest. Fella from work gave me £100 for it £50 up front and took the engine, was coming back the following week (pay day) to pick the rest up. Poor lad got killed on the Friday, bike remained split didn't have the heart to get the engine back and return money or whatever.

Tony

ps Good look with the sale

You got mail Bren, but really just asking where in the UK you are and if they are still available. Got a mate that thinks they are CA72s, not CBs...?

cheers

Mike

They are CB's, or hawks as the Septics called them. There were 2 at Uttoxeter, if anyone saw them

One in race trim:-

and one with a 450 top end on - nice work.

CA's had big all enclosing mudguards, leading link forks, all enclosed chain case etc, more like a big Honda 90.

I've a mate with a CB72, did the 1100 mile round trip with us to Dijon this year, including 3 track sessions. Not bad for a 1961 H*nda. Used far less fuel than my valve & I was doing CB72 speeds, not valve speeds.

I'm flying in the face of popular opinion here, but my "mate" is actually a classic expert (Bikes ex secondhand guru and done a lot of articles for Classic Mechanics) and swears they are CAs due to the single carb. Waiting on Bren to send me the chassis numbers which will hopefully be prefixed by the model number which will definitely answer this Smile

If I do buy them one will be used for transport to Chimay races next year. I say every year I'm going but never do....

Well the blue one has twin carbs, can't quite make out the black one. The CB's should be twin carbs. there's a few other differences between the motors I think, the CB is a 180 degree crank, whereas the C and CA72 were a 360. You should get the engine numbers as well, you may well have a cb72 chassis with a ca motor in it.
