I'm running 0,39 mm Squish, Zeel and use 94 octane...have not yet tried to save the few Yuan with the lower octanes.

Bare, Is Canadian petrol rated at pump octane number ie (RON+MON)/2 ?
In which case it would be the equivalent of 98 RON, "super unleaded" , which I can no longer buy at the pump.
I had a thought that I might be able to tweek the ign timing with a Zeel curve to use 95 RON with a higher compression and avoid detonation at peak torque, anybody done this ?

0.39 is a NO WAY number !!
i would not go under 0.8 MM ( and sure about the number properly mesured etc etc )
for road 0.9 or 1.00 is a safe number for 31K/F2 with CDI and falling curve at hiwg rpm
on a 4lo you will melt everything under 1.2
so my advice for a road 4LO
1.2 mm squish and F2 curve in the zeeltronic

Thanks for the advice Seb,
The measured squish before strip down was 2.23 mm so that offers plenty
of scope to reduce, I'll keep it above 1.2 mm for safety given the poor octane petrol at the pumps these days.

0.9mm in a 4L0 works fine as long as you do a few small mod's as well. Exhaust port needs to be 1.5mm higher than standard and ignition must be set back from 2mm to 1.9mm BTD. Don't forget the jetting.....
With this mod you will gain about 10 BHP over standard.

I'd worry about the chamber volumes more that the squish.
Keep it circa 1mm and make sure you equalise the chambers so they match.
The compression ratio is not directly related to but effected by the squish clearance.
Pump fuel is crap, even the super plus stuff.
Feed it 4 star if you can get it or optimax at the worst.
