Any ideas on the best way to get the brassy looking dowels out of the base of the barrel mounting holes. All the dowels stayed in place on my top casing but my replacement barrels have two stuck in them.

have done these but tbh ian removal often damages them.
warm them up for a few seconds with a match or lighter and gently twist out.however this dont always work.
soak in penetrating oil also helps but as they are easy to ruin i would see how you go if not drill out and replace them.

ian just realised sommat here....you have the most fantastic blow up with the evidence of a powdered piston and you worry about a little dowel removal.... Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing
heat and gentle twist is probably all that is needed to be honest.

Very carefully applying a gas torch to heat them can work.

I'd lend you mine but a) I'm miles away and b) I'd have fekk all to cook my tea with. Wink

you will damage them getting them out more then likely but i put a 8mm bolt just pushed into them and clamp them tight with a pair of molegrips and abit of a twist backwards and forwards and ease them out and the'll come out.

never failed me

All sorted.

Bit of heat from the trusty blow lamp, bit of WD40 and a twist with the pliers and out they came.
Barrells are now clean so a bit of masking and they will be ready for some BBQ paint.

Gaz,
Finesse is my middle name, the blow up was a moment of madness Wink
